How to Install Nikon Capture NX2 on Mac OS Sierra
Nikon Capture NX2 is a powerful and versatile photo editing software that allows you to process and enhance your RAW images from Nikon cameras. However, if you have upgraded your Mac to OS Sierra, you may encounter some problems installing or running Capture NX2. In this article, we will show you how to install Nikon Capture NX2 on Mac OS Sierra using a workaround method.
Before you begin, you will need the following:
A copy of Nikon Capture NX2 installation disk image (.dmg) file. You can download it from Nikon's website if you have a valid product key.
A copy of Pacifist, a third-party application that can extract files from disk images. You can download it from here.
A Mac running OS Sierra (version 10.12) with System Integrity Protection (SIP) disabled. SIP is a security feature that prevents unauthorized modifications to system files and folders. To disable SIP, you need to boot your Mac into Recovery Mode, open Terminal from the Utilities menu, and type csrutil disable, then restart your Mac normally.
Once you have everything ready, follow these steps:
Mount the Capture NX2 installation disk image (.dmg) file by double-clicking on it.
Launch Pacifist and drag the Capture NX2 Installer icon from the disk image window to the Pacifist window.
Pacifist will scan the installer package and show you its contents. Click on the Contents of Capture NX 2.pkg folder and select all the files and folders inside it.
Click on the Install button at the top of the Pacifist window and choose a destination folder for the extracted files. You can use any folder you like, but we recommend creating a new folder called Capture NX2 in your Applications folder.
Pacifist will ask you for your administrator password and then copy the files to the destination folder. This may take a few minutes depending on the speed of your Mac.
When Pacifist is done, close it and eject the disk image by dragging it to the Trash icon.
Open Finder and navigate to the destination folder where you extracted the files. You should see a folder called NIKON software with a subfolder called Capture NX 2 inside it.
Double-click on the Capture NX 2 application icon to launch it. You may see a warning message saying that the application is from an unidentified developer. Click on Open to continue.
Capture NX2 will ask you for your product key. Enter it and click on OK.
Capture NX2 will then check for updates online. If there are any available updates, download and install them.
You should now be able to use Capture NX2 on your Mac OS Sierra without any issues.
